  • A lot of the chaotic attractor MSG processors are generating a 3D function. You just see it displayed in 2D.

However, the IFS generators are stochastic, so even though there might appear to be a specific path in the final image, it is built up in a stochastic fashion, so the ordered sample points jump around. Something like the Lissajous generators does generate a continuous path. So that would be one way to go. I could add a 3 one.

What's the function they are using for the particle movement?

In the Path Shape control panel. I use a Path Load option for the Path Type. The Load Type is the MSG Attractor. You want the FreeRun option for the Scan Option.

I suspect that you could identify the function faster than I just by looking at the "brush" on the site. The nib shows the active particles in animation as on draws. There are many different settings in the pro version and a few parameter options in the free online version. The link ins in my opening post.

It does seem to be doing something different that what I can get SA to do.

  • You can drive the paint synthesizer's path shape with IFS fractals via MSG. So i think you can probably already do it in Studio Artist.

    • John if you have an example it would be nice to see. This is created differently from what you describe.  The brush is an animated particle brush where the particles seem to be orbiting in 3d. So I know that we can have animated brushes in SA. Of course we also have particle brushes. I am not aware of how to make an animated particle brush where the particles are orbiting the stylus point.
