If you ever experience a crash problem where Studio Artist crashes when it tries to write the first frame of a processed movie or when writing to an open movie stream, this problem can be easily fixed.
It means you have bad movie compression preference settings. The crash log will show that the apple quicktime api calls for the quicktime frame compression are what is actually crashing. This is because quicktime doesn't know what to do with bogus compression settings so it crashes. This problem sometimes can happen after you do a quicktime version upgrade on your mac.
The fix for this problem is quite simple. Just start up studio artist, then go to the file : preferences : movie compression preferences dialog menu, open the movie compression dialog, then change all the settings in there, even if you just change them and then change them back. then hit ok for the dialog, then quit studio artist, and then restart studio artist. this will fix the problem.
