I'm really getting into exploring this new thing we call MSG Drifting. You initialize the Evolution Editor to some diverse set of initial MSG presets, then let generative ai evolution algorithms take over the actual evolution process in a gallery show art strategy. So gallery show is both evolving the MSG preset population inside of the Evolution Editor while also sampling from that every evolving MSG population to generate MSG derived visual effects in each gallery show cycle.
We call it MSG Drifting because you can watch the Evolution Editor previews drift through the MSG preset parameter space over time. Keep in mind that unlike something like an Ip Op effect with a fixed set of adjustable parameters, MSG presets have a reconfigurable internal structure associated with the processor chain that defines the MSG based visual effect. So while each individual MSG process has a fixed set of adjustable parameters, the structure of the actual processor chain is infinitely recombinational.
You could think of the MSG processors as being like genes spread out along a chromosome if you want to think about it in terms of loose biology analogies. We're using the new crossover evolution algorithms to generate new processor chains by combining together different pieces of existing ones that are in the current population.
The generative ai driving the automatic evolution process associated with the MSG population is working with the new processor chain split crossover algorithms along with other mutation techniques like individual processor swaps, additions, deletions from the potential range of complete processors, parameter randomization, morph, mingle operations, intelligent meta-edits, etc. This is all adjustable, and depending on how you set it up, the resulting effects on the trajectories (the drift) through the potential range of the MSG parameter space varies quite a bit, with a resulting change in the visual appearance of what is being generated by the individual MSG presets in the evolving population.
The individual user can also be in the loop if they want to be, making decisions in real time along with the generative ai.
