  • Cool picture.

I saw this one (there are many nice pictures, but with new features) on your blog.

How did you do this ? Is that also a new feature ?

  • Most of what is going on in this particular image is a function of using a movie brush based on a series of horizontal ink splatter stroke images.

So there are no paint paths per say in this painting, all of the apparent paint paths are ink splatter images from the splatter movie brush orient and size modulated appropriately in different spatial areas of the image.

Here's a link to another post made from an ink splatter movie brush. That one isn't really working with directional paint effects. The ink splatters are random.

The image posted here is using Hue modulation of the source brush in the Brush Modulation control panel. So being able to use hue for brush orientation modulation is new. But you could use something like source orient modulation.

I'm also using a new brush size modulation option. But you could emulate what it is doing using the Local Color Difference modulator.

  • The 'Sketch Experiment' image from my personal daily art blog you referenced above is very different in approach. It is using path start regionization and painted paths. It was also an experiment in building a multi-resolution paint effect. So auto painting was used on a small canvas. Then that small canvas was resized up to be double in size. Then auto painting was done again on top of the old canvas. And the cycle was repeated a few times.

  • Thanks John for the explanations !
