I'm just using him for his color palette really. Then going to town with all manner of distortion brushes. I'm really enjoying the natural media layers of paint look I am getting. One thing I feel is lacking right now is a palette knife style brush to cut deep edges into a canvas…
posted in preset sharing. also look at the collection 4 dry paints. But until John adds a z-depth buffer to the pixels we can't really carve the paint. The effect is achieved using gradient lighting and blur ImOps and edge composites

That's what I've been doing. Though I tend to do the blurs with the adjust to have the immediate feedback. Would be awesome to have a lighting effect that could be "drawn" like that too.
An interactive lighting effect would be cool. I would work a lot better if SA had a 3d component. I have seen other lighting effects including Light! plug in for photoshop, which use shadow masks. The problem is that without an intelligent understanding of the scene/paint the "lighting" can be very wrong.
I mean interactive adjust. Also I find I get best results with gradually decreasing opacity of multiple blends so a one off setting doesn't make the most sense to me. But that might just be my compulsive lighting brain at work. :-)

Also, toast is tasty.
something like this?
That's lovely. Also similar idea that cuts away paint not just adds it, but yes. Care to share or have I just missed that one in the folders?

Thanks for the preset.
Lucas, do you mean add a lighting effect in interactive adjust?
If you mean add the lighting effect into the paint preset, that's what the lighting brush load option in the paint synthesizer is for.
