Portrait 534

the base is the vectorizer, finishing with another software. John, is there a possibility in V5 to have these kind of"cuting" effect ?

  • You could probably do the cutting effect in Studio Artist today. there might be a way to make accessibility to that kind of effect easier. I'll think about it a little.

  • OK, thanks for your help :-)

If it's possible I think we should make more things then with SA in that style.

  • I like these much, good job.

  • Thanks Francis !

John, perhaps it is possible with this method I posted here:

  • I've been playing around with it a little duplicating it in Studio Artist. I'll post a PASeq at some point for people when i'm happy with it. In the meantime, thought i'd pass on a few details of what i've been playing around with.

You can use something like Simple Texture ip op or one of the MSG AdvTurb generators to generate a texture field with fairly large features.

You then BW Threshold that to get a hard mask that is one layer of 'puzzle pieces'. You can use BW Threshold Adjust or Threshold ip op to do that.

You can use Displacement ip op to shift the puzzle mask.

And you can use the Smooth ip op with the Blur Edge algorithm to blur the edges of the mask.

If you first invert the displaced mask and then blur it you get a shadow for the mask.

I also worked with different layers, where the layers are really just hidden storage buffers as opposed to 'view all' stacked layers.

The vectorized source image gets placed in one layer.

The individual passes of the puzzle mask get put in a different layer.

And the cutting effect output image gets built up in a third layer.

  • Thanks John.

A question : how can I record a new layer in a PASeq.When I add a new layer it isn't recorded in the PASeq list ?

  • Cool effect, just played with simple texture displaced....

  • The PASeq does not record the 'new layer' command. It does record which layer you processed or were working in for each action step recorded.

Whether the PASeq plays back the layer information depends on whether the Layer Playback parameter is turned on or not. Here's a tip that explains that.

  • Is this made with filter forge?
