  • Very nice indeed!

  • very interesting, can you describe a bit what is going on here?

  • It's a single auto-paint pass on a black background.

It's using a watershed regionize DM path start generator. So it's based on path start regionization. I'm using an Outline Skeleton region pattern type for the path shape, with a Poly Simplify2 path shape stylize effect turned on that works to straighten out the kinks in the skeleton paths.

The paint fill from is using image processing brush load based on a Canvas Contraction brush load source, and a Paint Color Mean Shift algorithm. The Fill Algorithm is Mix Apply / Brush Displace. The image processing brush load acts to build a kind of warped transparency where an overpainted stroke shows through a warped distorted view of what is under the paint stroke (due to the color mean shift of the contracted canvas in the brush load).

This was done in the development code, so there's a few things going on in it associated with new features under development. One new feature under development that is being used in this allows for dynamic resizing of the source brush for painting each path start region based on the overall size of the region. Size indexing is also turned on for the path start regionization, so it paints the regions in indexed from largest to smallest.

I'm also using a new Color Range brush size modulator. You could get part way there using the existing LocalColorDif size modulator. I'm also using some new procedural brush type options that were added to better model bristle 'rake' paint effects.

  • Wow! You do realise you have just scared off dozens of potential customers.  : )

  • That's why we have a lot of pre-built paint presets. So that people who don't want to get under the hood don't have to.

I'd also like to put together new paint synthesizer macro-edit options for some of the new detail tightening features we're adding. So you could just choose a pre-built 'tighten up the look of my paint' command without having to understand what controls are being adjusted in the paint synthesizer to achieve that tightened paint look.

Actually, everything i was discussing about the brush load and fill algorithms was edited via using existing paint synthesizer macro edit commands in the help palette.

  • i like this a lot. Its success is also built upon the power of the original.

  • Would be even cooler if you added some size/angle mods based on facial recognition.

  • I think balaclava man was referring to fear of clowns... not fear of Studio Artist!
