  • I like this approach John... also you were going to get me a simplified explanation of vector smoothing for halftones... Did you get a chance to do it yet?

  • Sorry, do you mean converting a raster halftone image into a vector one?

The trick is to use the Vectorizer. You use the Flat Input Main Technique. This is designed to take a flat color raster image and convert it to a vector image. And you probably want to turn off all of the Filter and Clean options at the top of the Generation control panel. And you want to use the vector antialias option for the canvas render option in the Drawing control panel.

  • about a week or two ago you went into a complex discussion(I think with bernard and maybe Michael too) about a process of getting smoother vectors, I think from halftones

  • i will look into my discussions

  • I haven't been able to find it... but one idea that came to mind is blending in the vectors to eliminate edges as in illustrator files... using mesh tools. does that possibility exist in SA using vectors?

  • Not sure what you mean by that last post?

  • I believe the discussion Paul is remembering is this one

  • Yes, That's the one Michael. Thanks

  • I see something else here. A big wide opening for SA in the halftone "screening" area, an established market Andromeda has been specialising in for years. John could make toast of their offeings and offer up some outstanding colour versions, I'm sure...

  • Applying stochastic screening as an option to colour versions woul also be awesome. More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stochastic_screening
