I am trying to find some stylistics with only 1 source-image. first i do a short GS-run to get variations of my source:

  • Cool.  It's interesting to see different people's approaches to building art strategies in gallery show.  There are so many different ways to approach it.

One thing i want to add is a sample hold option for the source, so if you are using a randomized folder, you could set it up so once it selected a random image from the folder, it would keep using it for a certain number of GS cycles before moving on to the next one.

I often try to build the 'finishing' part into my end cycle processing.  But its unusual for me to incorporate any manual painting into my gallery show process these days.  But then i'm very focused on trying to perfect the automatic generative part of it.  If i wasn't, i'd probably be spending time working with manual selection masking and then running various things in the selection mask to aid in final 'finishing' for the gallery show output.  I do often add some additional l manual finishing steps to clean things up or push the contrast more, but less so since we added some additional finishing options to the end cycle processing in V5.5.5.

I like how you came up with an approach to incorporate the part into your desire to also be working physically with the image manually as well.

I know some more traditional manual painters look at it and assume there is nothing there for them.  There are a lot of different hybrid approaches one could explore that utilize the automatic image generation process while still leaving room for manual interaction.

  • Another strategy i wanted to point out for people is to have a folder of small variation sof the same image, and then use that as the source where it is randomly picking one of them for each gallery show cycle.  It coud be the same person moving, or subtle distortions of the image, or rotating an object.

If you have a movie file for the GS source, then it picks a random frame in it right now, so that is a way to do it while still using the fixed source option.
