  • as far a proof of concept goes with the existing tools this is as far as I can take it. Maybe some of you out there can advance it further...

  • Pretty good proof of concept.

I you could put together a tutorial of the process you went through along with the paint presets, that would be awesome.

  • 2472645412?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024Very nice  liveart. I'm not sure if you can multiply an image and add layers by using auto-presets, but I played with it and added a few more layers manually.

  • Nice scott. I like your treatment. I would also be very interested in seeing how you might approach the target with your methods.. check out the Challenge posted today to see more of Mills' style.

  • I wish I had the skill to create my own presets, Micheal. Maybe at some future point.

Really, I meant my post more as a question: is it possible to create a preset that adds layers, and changes the layers filter settings?

  • Scott,

It would be possible to create a PASeq which had multiple layers. In SA terminology a preset is a single action... though it can be quite complex it will act on a single layer (ok there is a way to have it act on more than one layer but such a process is not currently recordable.) A Paint Action Sequence (PASeq) is a collection of presets that can be created as simply as having the history record on while you are working. So If you can add a layer and have that layer composited in different ways (which you can) then you can record that as a PASeq.

  • Interesting Michael, I like to try a lot of layers and layer composites.  Creating my own PASeq's might make it more time efficient for me to try multiple things.  I'll have to work improving  on my SA skills.

  • I think I may hate you now. I have spent nearly two days playing with paint presets just to get some version of the drippy line/splatter brushes you have here.

I'll keep on it though. I've learned quite a lot about paint presets in that time and made some nice accidents along the way.

  • In SA and possibly in ART in general it is the happy accidents that are the most rewarding..

Lucas are you using the Paint Synth evolution module? It is tucked away in the Help menu. Using this a fantastic way to make new presets before one knows exactly what is going on at the deep editor level. --Want to make a drippy paint take a wet paint and an ink record them as PM1 (paint memory1) and PM2 and then use the mingle or morph commands to generate new presets.

  • I was just knob twiddling in the editor. I'll have to look into this. Sounds like exactly the tool I need. Thanks!
