Used the vectorizer to build a set of path start regions filled with painted text letters using the paint synthesizer.

  • Cool the picture, (and forum new look !).

Did you do this in 2 steps with a PASeq ?

Can you post the preset ?

  • This came up during a random gallery show. I stopped the gallery show (after it had modified the text regions with some additional processing) and re-ran the original vectorizer and auto paint action steps on top of what gallery show had already run to generate the image above.

I posted a 2 step PASeq that shows off the vectorizer and paint synth auto paint parts of how this was made. It's in the preset sharing group in the comment wall (posted Nov 10, 2012), and is called VectorizerTextRegions1.paseq. The PASeq doesnt' cover the entire canvas. You could use something like the Geodesic Interpolation ip op to fill in the blank parts of the canvas, just start with something like an erased white canvas, then run the PASeq. You could of course build a modified PASeq that incorporates these processing extra steps.

  • Thanks John.

I didn't know the subtility of the vectorizer (composite/Replace Region Selection) and the Paint Synth (Path Start/Generator/Select as Regions-All levels) combination ! New ideas !

  • Here's a Studio Artist news article that talks about using the vectorizer to control path start regionization.

The end of this tip also discusses using the vectorizer to define paint regionization effects.

  • Thanks, that is very interesting !
