still working to get an oil-like appearance to image and still retain as much detail as possible.The resolution of these images is 300 dpi and 5400x7200pixels. Gradient lighting is key to the oily appearance. I'm always adjusting it to get the best effect.

  • this preset or combination of presets is very nice Tony. For my eye, I would like to see a greater variation in "stroke size" but that of course is simply a personal preference. Gradient lighting is a great way to get the "3d" stroke effect. There are others. One can to a smart blur with an edge 1 composite, Or a self modulate  translate also with an edge composite. Then there is a 2 layer displace. All very interesting approaches. Different routes not withstanding I like what you are doing here.
