I used path start regionization in the development code. I was using something that tries to optimally map a single straight line path to a region. Because of the way this new feature works you can generate the entire painting using one auto-paint step.
Another approach to generating something like this that does use any new features would be to use multiple paint passes in a PASeq with reduced brush size in each pass that also get a stronger path start focus on high texture areas as the brush size gets smaller. So the smaller brushes (with associated smaller path length) only get drawn in areas associated with high texture.

very evocative. Though in a gesture drawing the wheels would be circles. Was this an auto-paint?
Yes, it's auto paint.
Everything's straight paint paths in this. So no curved lines.
does this use development code or can it be done in v4?

great idea.
would very much like to see the result of same experiment using a watercolor preset.
