TilingCircles5

Another concentric circle test image. This was generated in v4 using path application repeat to generate the concentric circles. The circles are actually paint strokes as opposed to circular brush nibs like in the previous example, so it's easy to show through the existing canvas in the hole between the circles. The color change is setup by setting the Path Gradient in the Paint Color Modulate control panel to 'repeat stroke index' with the Gradient End set to 'fixed color 1'. I setup fixed color 1 to be analogous mix1 randomized. The painting was drawn with vector drawing paint synthesize settings. This allowed me to generate a pdf file for output which is resolution independent, so it can be arbitrarily scaled for printing on high res printers.

  • I wanted to point out that you can make something like this more recognizable by adding a Vectorizer Outline technique step to the Paint Action Sequence. Here's an example of what i mean for this particular image. Right before the last circle painting action step i added the vectorizer outline action step.

You could add as many different vectorizer outline passes as needed embedded between circle applications to create a more structured but still abstract image. Again, everything i'm doing here can be output as vector graphics if you want to go that route for output rather then saving raster image files.
