I'm having great fun and success using Studio Artist to design cards and gift wrap on a Mac. Studio Artist is the best program I've ever used for the job, and I have tried nearly all of them. However I can't work out how to simply save multiple variations of my own Paint brush Presets. I have read the entire manual and looked all over the internet for an answer.
The problem is, when I make a variation of a custom brush that I have already saved as a Preset, it always erases or overwrites the previous saved preset. I just want to save all my brush variations in a Favorites folder. But each variation saved wipes out the previous one! The only workaround that works for me is to duplicate the preset in the Finder, and then use the Studio Artist Editor to alter the settings of each duplicate. This is a very messy and time consuming way to work.
Is there an easier way to make multiple variations of your own Paint brushes, and store them in the same folder? Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but I have tried my best before posting here.
Everything else about Studio Artist is Awesome!

If you edit a preset and then export it as a preset file, the exported preset file will be different than the original preset file. 'File : Export : Export Paint Preset' if you are saving a paint preset file.
Here's a tip on working with preset favorites.
Thank you very much John. I tried your method and it works. I had previously assumed Export was to export the preset to another program. I had tried it before but the exported preset did not appear in the Favorites folder, so I assumed it didn't work for internal duplicates. Now I see the exported preset appears in the folder after you quit Studio Artist and re-start.
I have to admit it would be nicer and more intuitive if you could just drag and drop and re-name, straight into the Favorites folder without losing your duplicate.
Thank you very much for helping!
You can drag and drop the current preset icon into the favorites toolbar, and that will copy the current preset as a new preset file in that favorites category. However, it copies the current preset file stored on disk, so if you have edited it, it does not copy any edited changes unless they have been saved to disk.
When you export a preset file, it's up to you to put it in the appropriate folder. If you reload a category, then any changes you made to tat category will show up in the preset browser or toolbar.

Thanks John. I have things under control now after reading your helpful tips. All the best to you!
