Oil Paint Preset: Too Thick

Hi,

I've found a oil paint preset that I like. It's called "Oil1" located in the new paint, assisted or auto category.

My question is: How can I change the settings to make a smaller brush with a lighter coating of paint? I like the result, but would like a finer brush and coating. I've read that I can change the brush size with the mouse and b key, but it is too haphazard, and difficult to repeat.

Thanks for any ideas..

  • Art you have a couple of choices

You can use the hot key b to re-size and then save the preset so that it will always initiate with the smaller brush.

you can also head in the brush modulation panel and adjust the max size range.

Or you can head to the brush source and adjust the horizontal and vertical size of the "nib"

I am not really clear on what you mean by a finer "coating"

If you mean that you want the paint to be more transparent then open the paint fill apply panel and adjust the transparency try 2% to start.

If you mean that you want the texture to be less obvious - Try heading to the paint brush load panel and reduce the elevation and increase the width just a bit.

have fun experimenting.. remember to save (export) the preset with your new parameters when you are done.

    • Thanks Michael,

Now I have a starting point to experiment. I appreciate your help..
