oops, where do all those presets go

I think I bungled this one. When I download presets I have a feeling I am putting them in the wrong place. Is there a place that is a common folder or do they need to go into a very specific folder inside the preset folder.

Here's a Studio Artist 4 tip that discusses preset organization in the section on Preset Folder Hierarchy. The User Guide pdf also has asection near the beginning on presets and preset organization. All of the factory presets in version 4 are located in the Preset folder contained within the main Studio Artist folder. If you add new presets you need to make sure they are in a specific Category folder, loose presets in the main Preset folder or in any of the Collection folders won't show up in the Browser since they aren't assigned to a specific category.

Making custom Favorites folders is an easy way to add new preset. Here's a tip on working with preset Favorites.

thanks John, I have to figure out what presets came eith SA4 and what are add ons. then I will do your drag on top of SA4 icon.

john, can I drag a preset over the apps icon while it is running? Also can I drag a bunch over all at once again while it is running or is this a one at a time drag and drop thing.

I had to do a folder compare with the original 4.0 distribution with my presets to clear out all that did not show up in original distribution folders. Now I have a whole bunch of presets that need to go to their right places.

Also, I for the life of me can not figure out what MSG does or is for. Every time I use it, it just wipes out my painting and displays the preset's icon as the image, I mean blown up and all.

I think there needs to be a creativelive workshop on SA.
