  • I'm not sure i understand your question. You can import and export texture synthesizer presets. You can either manually run the file : import : import texture synthesizer preset menu, or you can drag and drop a texture synthesizer preset to the studio artist icon and it will open it. Texture synthesizer presets store and restore all of your texture synthesizer settings.

MSG is also a great way to build texture fields and texture based effects.
    • Yes, sorry I was vague there. When I'm in the Texture Synthesizer and I control-click the Texture Synth Patch Import option my custom ImOp Simple Textures that I want to tweak are not available, they're greyed out. Is there a way to open a custom ImOp Simple Texture I've made with the Texture Synth or is the closest I can get to doing that just trying to reconstruct my ImOp SimpText preset in the TextureSynth? What I'm imagining is that the math in there that's responsible for the textures is much the same in either, but the Texture Synth has more parameters to noodle around with.
      • Yes, Simple Texture ip op is like a really simple version of the texture synthesizer without any of the effects. It's actually more like the procedural background texture generator in the paint synthesizer, the texture synthesizer has a lot more control options and can generate much more elaborate textures.

There's no way to move the Simple Texture ip op settings over to the texture synthesizer other than manually.
        • Alrighty then...[insert Jim Carrey face here]. Thanks John.
Let me ask about one other thing. When I put the Scale setting way up (over 100) the jaggedness on some edges starts to be quite pronounced, something that would be nice to smooth out. Is there any settings or parameters that might be interacting in the Texture Synth that could give me some control over that, or is that an inevitable consequence of 'overdriving' the Scale. I routinely take settings to the extreme to see what might happen.
          • Post a preset that does what you are talking about and i'll take a look at it.
            • These two TextureSynth presets show some degree of the jaggedness. One is set to Effect/Color Source/Canvas and the other is set for Effect/Color Source/Source, with Mode/Regionize 1.

Is anybody making a copy of all the material in the Tutorials Forum

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor
