I wanted to share the PAseq presets I used for the Temporal Ghost Effects video I made which you can check out here

A lot of the examples on the movie were reprocessed animations.  For example the sketchy ones were first processed with sketch PAseq's and then I took that movie output and ran it through these Temporal presets.  You kind of have to do that way in a two step process instead of one PAseq pass because the Temporal ops are looking forward and backward at the movie so you have to have the movie you want to process loaded in the Source.  But some of them processed the Temporal Effect and then further effected that with things like hue adjutants and image ops and sometimes a sketch on top.
Anyway I hope you enjoy experimenting with the Temporal Image Operation Mode.  It's really pretty cool.  I had a lot of fun with it.

  • Thanks for sharing these presets.

I've got them in SA4 now but about half of them end up in a totally black screen. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks.

    • Do you have a movie file loaded as your studio artist source? Temporal ip ops are designed to be used that way.

Which presets in particular are you having issues with?

I'll take a look at them and comment appropriately.

For example, some of them might be using Min compositing, so then depending on your source movie and initial canvas setup, that could lead to a black screen.

  • Just re-uploaded the SA4 presets.  Sorry about that.  You can get them here too.

    • Just to make this clear, TemporalSA4 is a folder of PASeq presets. Sean did this because the presets are designed to process movie files. The temporal ip ops are used as action steps inside of the PASeq presets.

As a side note, if you ever are unclear about what kind of Studio Artist preset file you downloaded from the preset sharing group, you can always drag and drop an individual preset file onto the Studio Artist icon in your dock (assuming you are on a mac). Studio Artist will open the preset file and then you can see what kind of op mode preset it is.

    • I'd like to use temporal image ops as part of animation sequences in some of my video work. Groundbreaking processing with really unique effects! I have a bunch of tips open and will keep looking but at the moment I'm hung up as to how to edit (or replace with a modified duplicate) the temporal ip op settings as I work and have the settings be applied back to the animation sequence I'm working with.

I think I have this to a point: What I'm currently trying to do with limited success is right clicking on the temporal image op step in the animation sequence, choosing Action Step to Interface which calls up the preset in the Temporal Image Operation mode where I make whatever edits or changes I want to see, then right click again back in the animation sequence and choose "Interface to Action Step," which seems to take the edited temporal ip op settings and puts those changes back into the animation sequence. I can then run the animation sequence and run a test render to see what my changes look like.

Does it seem I'm on the right track? I've looked around for tips and also have not found much on this in the app help unless I'm looking in the wrong place. Any suggestions for a better or different way of doing this would be appreciated.

    • You can edit a PASeq the way you suggest (using the context menu commands).

Or you can play the action step, make the control panel editing changes, then option click the red keyframe cell at frame time 1 for that action step to record over the old keyframe.

Or you can record a new action step, drag it to the correct position in the PASeq list, then select and delete the old action step.

    • Thanks, John. Truth is I have more work to do sorting out the key framing, but I have a renewed sense of importance to finally make more use of it.

    • Sorry - still not showing up. SA was closed, I put them in the Temp Image preset folder and they don;t appear when I load SA. See attached

    • Hi,

Sorry these are PAseq Presets.  So you need to put them in that preset folder or do what john suggests and make a favorite folder and put them in there.  Sorry for all the confusion.

    • They are PASeq presets, not temporal ip op presets. So put the folder in a PASeq collection folder and then they will load.
