This image and the other similar one were generated using 'Region Fill as Brush' pen mode. The trick to using a movie brush with Region Fill as Brush pen mode is to set the Region as Brush Mode control panel parameter Brush Option to Alpha Only. What this means is that the generated region will only set the brush alpha. So if you then use the Source Alpha Brush Brush Type the generated region will be the brush alpha while the rgb movie brush frames will still be available for Paint Fill Setup settings based on the Brush.
You also want to make sure the Path Start Regionize checkbox is turned on in the Region as Brush Mode control panel whenever you are using region fill as brush pen mode with any of the path start regionize generators.
I've found through experimentation that you can recreate a lot of the MSg Evolver artmap effects using the paint synthesizer in Studio Artist if you are clever with your paint synth programming.
