Generic head made from averaging 100 inverse warped head shots. The eyes, mouth, and face outline were defined with 4 bezier curves for each head image and then inverse warped to the standard head configuration (which was actually taken from a photo of Oprah). So it's kind of like a morph, but instead of morphing from one image to another you morph all of the images at once back to one photo's configuration. This kind of stuff is real easy to do in version 4, you can do the whole inverse warp with 1 paseq step, so you just load your stack of images as a source movie and then go frame by frame, draw in the curves and option click a new inverse warp keyframe in the paseq timeline. You can actually do what i'm calling an inverse warp here in 3.5 using multiple layers using morph timeline animation and the fixed % transition type. You'd put your 100 images as layer timeline content keyframes in layer 1 (source 1), put your standard configuration image in layer 2 (source 2), and print the effect to layer 3. You'd set the bezier transition to 100% and the blend transition to 0%. It's not as straightforward to setup as in 4 but it is doable.

  • I haven't ever used warp keyframes yet, I need to look into that
  • The fixed % transition type morph in 3.5 actually gives you a lot of control over how yo use the blend and warp components of the morph process. For example, you can take one movie and warp it to match the movement of another movie. So if you wanted to do a movie of talking animals where their facial expressions matched a person talking that would be one example of the kind of thing you could do with it. Or with a 50% blend transition you could morph 2 running movies.
