Question about vectorizer path layer record option

I'm trying to feed paths created using the vectorizer (with the path layer record option flag on) into the paint synthesizer using the paint paths -> full layer command.

 

I'm running into a problem where my vectorizer isn't generating paths when I run it.  I checked to make sure the proper flag is on and the vectorizer indeed creates an image.  Anyone have any ideas on what I'm not doing?

Chris would you break down your steps a bit more. I think I understand what you are attempting, but I am not quite clear.

as I read your post:

step one set path layer record to vectorizer

step two run the vectorizer

step three switch to paint synth

step 4 run cmd-k (paint paths full layer)

 

is that correct?

With the exception of adding a step to set the canvas to black, that is the order.

ok well that procedure works for me. So the first question is if you check the bezier layer after running the vectorizer are there paths there or not?

The vectorizer Shape technique currently doesn't generate bezier paths into the bezier path frame when using the path layer record option. So that might be the problem you are running into.

 

We are aware of this particular issue and hope to correct it some day. You could of course run the vectorizer using the Shape technique, and then do a second step where you use the Flat input technique to re-vectorize the shape technique output, since that will generate the bezier paths you desire.
