Canvas Size and Distortion

Hi,

Using a oil paint preset at my camera's native resolution of 5,212x3,468 it takes a long time to finish rendering, but it comes out OK. If I reduce the canvas size to a smaller size of 3,212x2,137, it takes less time, but comes out much more distorted. Both are at painted at 72dpi.  Is there a way to work with a smaller canvas size, but eliminate the distortion?

    Did you scale the preset to be the equivalent size in the smaller canvas?
