Is anyone else experiencing CPU overheating and shutdown when running Studio Artist in batch processing mode for video clips?
I occasionally use Studio Artist to run batch processing overnight. Lately, several of the batch runs have terminated prematurely. My only guess is that the CPU is overheating and shutting down the system, since this process maintains a rather high CPU temp in spite of all my attempts to reduce it. The last crash corrupted a relatively new, but well-tested and reliable, SSD that was receiving the output.
I run a 2012 MacBookPro with OS-X Mavericks and Thunderbolt SSD's. When batch processing, I force the internal fan to a higher speed, use a cooling mat with a large fan beneath the laptop, and terminate all other apps. This seems to happen only with Studio Artist -- no problems with other processor intensive overnights such as AfterEffects.
