  • I generally don't think it has a steep learning curve at all. The program so far is straight forward where of course. If you try to sit down and really get to the bottom of everything, it'd be quite a deep program. But aside the technicalities, you're first greeted to several thousand neat presets that really do the talking

If you were just beginning, try digging through some presets and see which ones you like. When you want to tweak them further, you can then go into the settings and start checking which ones are doing what by changing parameters around and seeing each result. This can seem time consuming, but honestly that's the real fun of this program.

I say the one critique of this program is that some of the wording for each algorithm might be kinda difficult to visualize in your head. While I can't pull the specific wording from the top of my head I recall seeing stuff like "random 1" "random 2" "random 3" where each method is named with numbers and it just kinda makes me wonder what's what. Not that I have to go any deeper. If there are ways to visualize those settings in some way or fashion that'd actually brighten up a lot of confusing areas.

    • thank you for your reply. i didn't mention that i have been using studio artist for years and wanted to know if the update to 5 is a big difference from version 4. it was a steep learning curve for me but totally worth it.

      • I believe SA5 really adds a lot more splashes of stuff you can do to the whole program. It's got more than enough parameters to keep you rolling.

The work flow is pretty much the same as previous versions. I say it's worth it.

        • thank you.

You will be immersed in joy with this version. The basics are the same as before and some things that were more difficult for me are now understandable. I am not technically oriented. John and his crew have gone out of their way to provide accessible tutorials and bits and pieces of information that make the process easier. The program is still the same. But the options are extended on an exponential level.

            • thanks, paul. i just wanted to make sure i had time for the joy while doing my first paid work.
