Hey gang,
Thought I'd share this with you all.
I've been finding footage to pull down and play with on the internet archive and have run across a number of clips that are encoded with the ogg theora container (.ogv). The footage was great but I couldn't figure out how to get it to play back much less how to convert it to a more manageable format.
I came across this link: http://www.vorbis.com/setup_osx/ which is a link to the codecs that can be installed to allow you playback for ogg vorbis files in quicktime. Once installed, I was able to play back and use the files directly in Studio Artist instead of having to convert thems in quicktime or compressor first. Major, major win!
I also have installed the quicktime components that are contained in perian (some of which include Xvid, DIVX and AVI) and that's helped out with allowing me to use a wider range of formats on my mac. Normally able to pull it down from perian.org but for whatever reason, I couldn't access the site today.
So I pulled it down from cnet.com instead with no problem.
Thought you guys might be interested in checking them out (they're free!)
