I am starting to make a data base of studio artist presets both factory and ones I develop myself.
I am interested in what information people feel should be stored with each preset and would be grateful for any suggestions.
I will be using Filemaker so I can include image and video files.

Read more…I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding! (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Can you describe the data base? ie would it be a collection of images or would it be a collection of preset names and what values each of the parameters has at default.
I started a project a while ago, that consisted of all the presets run, against a standard image.
It was successful to a certain degree. Unfortunately, many presets, won't run automatically, but need to be run interactively. Most of the kalaidescopic presests, for instance, when run automatically, look horrible and bear no resemblance to what a manually version looks like.

I had thought of using the Following Fields:
Preset name
Preset Type eg. vector, paint , Image operation, Pas ect.
Factory yes or no
developed from
menu path to preset.
Source Image
Source image name
Source image size
Image after use of preset
Canvas size
With this sort of structure I could include the application of a preset to a number of image that are typical of my work.

Paul, Is this dbase starting already ?
Yes I am working on it. It is not going to be a complete set of all presets as there didn't seem to be much interest in that.. It only contains the presets that work on the kind of images that I work with. It has many examples of some presets but non of some others I have about 1200 records at the moment.
