I finally got the Apple Pencil for my 12.9” iPad Pro (1st generation), and the software I have found so far to be compatible with IOS is pretty lame (of the ones I tested, Artstudio Pro seems best).
Not useless, far from it, especially that the iPad will allow me to go work anywhere, “on the motif” as Cézanne used to say.
But to do a simple drawing with a modicum of credibility is not all that simple, unlike what I have been able to do with SA and even Painter.
Here’s a quick doodle done with Artstudio Pro, as soon as Winter leaves us alone here in Montréal, I’ll resume with sketching outdoor, something I have not been able to do since hit by severe allergies to natural media a very long time ago:

I use Procreate. I agree is not SA. But I mix between the ipad and my SA on my mac just sending the images back and forth depending what I want to do.
In theory you can sketch in SA on the iPad if you have a fairly new iPad and Mac using 'side car' which basically lets you use the iPad and Apple Pencil to draw on the Mac screen by making the iPad a second monitor for your Mac... Last I hear it wasn't great at transferring the touch sensitivity of the pencil so the strokes looked very mechanical. Maybe they have improved it but again you need up to date hardware on both sides. And it won't work out and about as both need to be within the same wifi hotspot.
