  • The 64 bit build has no quicktime support, quicktime being a 32 bit api. So no live video capture, no movie input or output, and no psd file format support. It's really there for people who want to work with larger canvas sizes.

    • And we thank you for that :)

  • Hi John, when I use the paint preset mixer on SA there are no indications in the settings square. When I use SA 64, there are indications that changes in real time with the painting ?

And can you explain more about this new feature, for people who don't know it ?

    Thanks,

    Bernard

    • I'm not seeing what you are in the 64 bit build when i run a quick test. I'll try some more testing on a different osx version. The 2nd and 3rd capture images you posted look like a draw bug to me in the mixer.

The paint preset mixer is an experimental palette that lets you interactively morph the editable settings between 2 or 4 different paint presets. The numbers 1,2,3,4 correspond to the 4 paint patch preset memories. 'Patch' memory means all of the paint synthesizer settings are stored in the memory. These correspond to the P1, P2, P3, and P4 memories located at the bottom of the paint synth Editor. You can also get at them using the Edit : Paint Synthesizer : Path Memory menu commands. You can use the menu commands to record or playback the memory settings. Record means the editable parameters are stored in the memory. Play means the stored settings in the memory are played back into the Editor.

So you can use the patch memories to save and restore editor settings while you are editing a paint synthesizer preset without having to export and re-import a preset file from disk.

There are also 2 paint synthesizer path memories, and 2 paint synthesizer brush memories. path memories store editable parameters associated with the paint path only. Brush settings store editable parameters associated with the paint synthesizer brush only. So these allow you to perform a form of high level macro editing (using the path drawing features of one preset with the paint brush characteristics of another preset.

The paint preset mixer allows for morphing of the parameter settings between 2 or 4 different presets. So if you mouse down in the rails at the edge of the paint preset mixer between 2 patch memories, then you morph between those 2 presets. Mousing down in the center of the paint preset mixer allows for morphing between all 4 of the paint patch memories. So, this is a way to make new paint presets based on interactively morphing the characteristics of 2 or 4 existing paint presets. There are also active commands in the Paint Synth Evolution page in the integrated Help Browser that allow for interacting with the paint preset memories as well as randomizing or morphing between different paint memories.

      • Thank you for the explanations of the paint preset mixer !

        I'm running Sierra 10.12.4.

I have this bug, when I run the paint synth, or a PASeq where the paint synth is selected. Random lines appear.

Is anybody making a copy of all the material in the Tutorials Forum

Since the Forum is going away in June, has anyone started to make a copy of all the stuff in the Tutorials forum?I've made copies of some of the tutorial material on the main site, but haven't looked at the Tutorial Forum yet.I'm going to continue copying as much as I can for my own personal use anyway, but if anyone else is doing it, or has already started doing it, please let me know.Maybe we can co-ordinate our efforts. ps can't ..... believe John, would let this happen without so much as a…

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor
