layer question

I have a video sequence. I want to use different paint patches but not on one layer because I want to merge it down through the composite mode "add scaled". But I am not getting it. The only way I see is to process the sequence with one paint patch, and then the same source again with the other paint patch. Then in a final step to load them back in different layers, and do my composite. Is there a way to do it in one step, with one PASeq? Thanks in advance.

If you turn on layer track in the file : preferences : paseq configuration preferences then when you playback a paseq it will track the layers you originally used for the steps. So you could use your different paint patches playing into the different layers. You'd also need to make sure you were in view all layer mode.
