texture synth for displacement

Is there a tutorial or any posting somewhere which discusses using the texture synthesizer for displacement effects, particularly with respect to paint splatter styles? thanks, Michael

This isn't really a full tutorial but the following link mentions it in reference to a set of abstraction adventure paseq presets for studio artist 3.5. Some of these use the Texture Synthesizer for paint splatter style effects.

I'll try to get something up on the forum that talks about how to do paint splatter style effects with the texture synthesizer.
