Border removal with region selection?

Hello, I have a source video which has a black border around it. I was wondering if there'd be a way for me to use Studio Artist to remove it. I thought I could use region selection but I can't figure out how to. I want the border gone and whatever the aspect ratio of the video inside to be the aspect ratio of the output video. Thank-you.

Well, you could make a second layer that is the size and position of the part of the movie you want to use for the output. Since you can have movie streams be associated with particular layers, you could then setup a movie stream from your second layer.

when you set the canvas to the source, it sizes it to fit. so your first layer would be the original size of the source. your paseq could be setup to first set that layer to the source. then you need to copy to first layer to the second layer. since the second layer is smaller and sized to only contain the part of the video inside the borders you are interested in, the second layer after the copy will only contain the part of the video you are interested in. the fast way to do the copy is to set the view to the first layer (current layer view) and then option click the memory button associated with the second layer (the little button on the left side of the layer in the layers window). this copies whatever you see on the screen to the option clicked layer.

you could also use the fixed image image operation to copy from one layer to another.
