I have been following instructions to process a movie file with a single image operation effect.
At the last stage I have a problem:
I change the IP source from current layer to source image,
I unchecked "record"
processed with paint action sequence --- source to movie

when the program starts processing the movie the IP source returns to current layer option on its own accord.

My question is: How do I get the IP source to stay and process the movie source, not the current layer.

I have studio artist 4.0.4

thanks for your help, tova beck-friedman

  • My guess is that you recorded the ip op action step with IP SOurce set to current layer.

You then changed the Editor setting so that IP Source was set to Source Image after you recorded the action step in the PASeq.

The Editor settings are recorded into a specific actions tep. So if you change them after the fact, that change does not get recorded into action steps you have already recorded. You would need to edit them to reflect the change you made.

The easiest way to do this is to option click the red keyframe for the edited action step at frame time 1. option clicking a keyframe records a new keyframe at that frame time, so the old one is over-written with the new one.

Here's an overview tip on an Introduction to paint Action Sequences.

If you look at the original tip you refer to, on processing a movie file with an ip op effect. It talks about changing the Ip Source setting from Current Layer to Source Image when you are playing around with building the effect, 'prior to recording the edited effect as an action step in the PASeq'. Sorry if that was not clear when you read through the tip and tried to follow along with it.

    • Thank you so much for  your help.

You were right in your assessment. I set  the IP Source  to Source Image while recording the action and it worked just fine.

      Thanks again, tova
