Action step to interface

I haven't used this feature in a while so I may be missing something but I'm pretty sure the last time I used it, all the changes I had made using the editor were copied back on top of the step in the paseq I was using.

This is my work flow:

1) Open PASEQ

2) Import target PASEQ

3) Highlight PASEQ step I want to change

4) Select Action Step to Interface

5) Change Interface parameter, ( max stroke in this case ), from 10 to 300

6) Select Interface to Action Step

7) Play select Action step.

The number of strokes didn't change. When I selected Action step to interface again, the old values showed up on the interface.

Essentially what I am doing is replacing the brushes used in some paseqs; replacing them with new ones and changing the number of strokes and a few other values, being used.

  • hmm. I changed other parameters and they all got copied back to the action step. Only max strokes was not copied. Is this intentional? I can understand that max strokes would not be used if the work were done manually but is would be convenient if max strokes could be copied along with all the other parameters.

    • Yes, it is intentional. To copy Max Stroke as well, hold down the shift and option keys when you click to record the new keyframe cell.

      ...

The reason why we did that is so that people can swap in a different preset while retaining the original number of paint strokes drawn. most presets have Max Stroke set to 40000 with the assumption that you will manually stop the preset at the appropriate time. So if you option click recorded those and Max Stroke was copied over then that action step would run forever.

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor
