automating specified grid points painting

Is there a path start generator that would allow me to apply static paint brush dabs in specified color or luminance areas of an image in a grid pattern so that I could automate the re-application of variations on that brush [or other brushes] in/from the exact same spots on the canvas ? Or might there be a constellation of Scan/Probability/Inhibitor/Blanking that would help me achieve this? I'm specifically looking to build brushes that paint in and/or thru grids, sometimes loosely and sometimes tightly, and to be able to repeat this process with accuracy so as to layer the paints and use offsets, clonings and generated regions to build [layered] images. I'm exploring the Path Application/Mode/Rect Tile settings but I'd really like to find a way to work rapidly with precisely repeatable PAS strategies. Would 'Run Autoscan Block Fill' offer some possibilities with it's function? What is it's function?

  • You can use the rectangle or hex-angle grid path start generator options to lay down dabs of paint on a repeatable grid pattern. The pattern will always be the same. If you want a single dab of paint you want to use a path length of 1, and to turn off any path start inhibitor or path end conditions.

Run Autoscan Block Fill is like running an adaptive block regionize path start generator, it's a specialty function that auto-configures the paint synth and runs that functionality.
    • Alrighty then. I did figure out that with some simple math it's possible to create some grid patterns-within-patterns to kind of (but not really) arrive at the PASs I seek. I'll keep tinkering on.Thanks John.
      • If you want to explain a little more what kind of patterns you are looking for (maybe a picture or 2) i can see if we can add some functionality to achieve what you are specifically looking for.
