Background Texture MSG question

I'm full of fun questions today!  Here's my latest: how outside of rendering out an MSG movie and setting it as a movie brush background texture, is there any way to use an MSG in the background texture editor?  I've been mucking around with the Luminance Modulator in the brush modulation editor (which I'm shocked I didn't realize was there before) and that led me to start mucking around in the background texture editor.

Thanks for your help in advance!

  • We'll probably add a MSG background texture option in the future. But for now, i guess using MSG to make an image or a movie brush, and then using an image background texture or movie background texture would be the way to do it.

Of course the cool thing about live MSG processing in the paint synthesizer is that you can use temporal generators for all kinds of interactive control or dynamic variation of the MSG processing.

Yeah, Luminance Modulation of the Brush has been hiding in the Brush Modulation control panel at least since version 3.5 came out. You can use MSG as a live MSG Source Brush, so if your goal is to vary the source brush with live embedded MSG,that might be a more straightforward approach.
