Desaturating an image

I'm having a complete low brain activity day today.  Working on an image and want to desaturate an element I created so that its solely black and white.  After mutzing around with some of the adjust and image ops, I'm stumped.  I'm thinking there's a way to do it via MSG, but before I go that route I figure I'd toss it out to the Forum and see what you all have to say.

Thanks in advance!

  • Can't you just use the Value/Sat Adjust option in Interactive Adjust op mode?

Pulling the clicked down cursor left in the canvas will decrease the saturation.

  • That's what I tried first, however I the image brightness seems to drop as well when I did it.

And here's the same image with me dragging as far left as I can with my stylus before the entire image goes dark:

    • Try changing the ColorSpace parameter to Lum.

Another option is to use the Following Fixed Color ip op effect. 100% Mix will be BW, anything between 100% and 0% will have appropriate reduced saturation.

      • I changed the colorspace to Lum using the BW Threshold adjust and got the results I was looking for.  Thanks John!
