I wanted to point people at an interesting pen plotter device now available that can be driven from Studio Artist output via svg to generate physical drawings from the Studio Artist svg output. A Studio Artist user and artist named Hubert Mardi turned us on to it.

Here's an example of a drawing he created using the Axidraw device with one of our factory presets.

He first generated a svg vector file from one of our factory PASeqs. He then opened it in Inkscape (free vector graphics program that opens svg). Apparently you can drive the Axidraw device from Inkscape.

You can find more information about the AxiDraw here.

For more information about outputting svg from Studio Artist, here a tip.

I haven't personally checked out the Axidraw yet, but i wanted to pass on this information to anyone interested. It looks like you have a lot of flexibility regarding what kind of pen or other marker you use with it. Using multiple passes to build up colored drawings would also be an interesting experiment. You might also be able to rig it to use paint instead of ink pens. Also pencils, chalk, charcoal, etc.

I figured there are a few people here on the user forum (I'm thinking of you Bernard among others) who might be interested in this. If anyone does pick one up and start using it with Studio Artist, please let us know what you are doing with it
