  • If you setup a circular brush nib (raster or vector) in the paint synthesizer and then boost the Spacing parameter in the path Application control panel in the paint synthesizer, you can space out the individual circular paint nibs to get the stitching effectt you want.

    • Can you go elaborate on this please?

What do you mean by "circular brush nib"?

I picked a the ink02_vector brush from Manual Painting - Use Pen or Mouse/Pens Pencils Markers.

then I changed the Spaceing parameter from 6 ro 156. I didn't see any change in the brushes behavior.

Is "circluar brush nib"  a type of brush or is it a brush parameter?

      • If you look in the Vector Output control panel for the paint preset you mentioned (ink02_vector),  you will see that it is using the Bezier Path option for the Vector Stroke Type.  This means it is drawing the bezier path only.  This is a paint synthesizer option that is not using the more conventional 'nibs of paint laid down along the vector path' approach that many paint synthesizer presets use.  The actual vector path is being drawn as a complete vector path (no individual nibs).  If you are drawing automatically you can see that the entire vector path is drawn all at once.  If you are drawing manually it can't do that obviously, but the individual segments as you manually move the mouse or pen are drawn that way.

If you change the vector Stroke Type to Circular Region, then you get circular vector paint nibs laid down along the generated vector path.  So with the Circular Region option for the vector Stroke Type, you can increase the Path Application Spacing and the drawn circular vector paint nibs will be spaced further apart.

Keep in mind that with this particular factory preset, there are other paint synthesizer options turned on to randomly modulate the size of the individual paint nibs Brush Modulation control panel).

Is anybody making a copy of all the material in the Tutorials Forum

Since the Forum is going away in June, has anyone started to make a copy of all the stuff in the Tutorials forum?I've made copies of some of the tutorial material on the main site, but haven't looked at the Tutorial Forum yet.I'm going to continue copying as much as I can for my own personal use anyway, but if anyone else is doing it, or has already started doing it, please let me know.Maybe we can co-ordinate our efforts. ps can't ..... believe John, would let this happen without so much as a…

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor
