How can I modify a step in the PASeq?

There are a few PASeq steps that I am liking, so I am trying to reverse engineer them to find the different presets that were used to create the PASeq steps-currently the names are things like "auto paint", which tells my nothing about the particular step.

Is there a way to edit the parameters of a specific step in the PASeq, or a way I can dive deeper to see the preset that was used in the Paint Syn Classic so I can edit the preset or create a new one?

Thanks!

Heather

  • Yes, you can edit individual action steps in a PASeq. You just play the action step (click on red keyframe), then make any adjustments in the Editor, then option click the red keyframe to record the changes you made.

Here's a tip on working with paint action sequences.

    • How can I determine what preset was used for each step in a PAseq?

      • If a particular preset was used for an individual action step, then the preset name will be included in the action step. Many factory PASeq presets might include individual action steps that were edited on the fly when constructing that PASeq, as opposed to just being a combination of factory presets.

Keep in mind that many paint presets have a Max Stroke setting of 40,000 in the Path Start control panel of the paint synthesizer Editor, so that they will essentially paint forever until a user manually stops them. So the PASeq will update that Max Stroke setting when you record an action step to match how long you let it paint before stopping it. At this point the action step is edited differently than what is in the factory or custom preset you used for recording that action step.

You can always play back an action step, and then save that effect as a new preset file if you like it and it doesn't match an existing factory preset.
