Here was a question i was recently asked: Wish list: to be able to limit a gallery run to a specific category within a specific collection and not the entire default factory paint presets for example. I would like to be able to run ONE category in ONE collection only, such as 4.0 collection: "gel paint" instead of all of the categories within the 4.0 collection. You can do this. The trick is to copy the category folder into Preset : Favorites so it's a favorites category. You can option drag the category folder in the mac finder to make a copy of the folder. Then choose this favorites category, and then use the current favorites technique in gallery show preferences for your gallery show run.

  • Excellent! Thank you--it will be convenient to compile shorter gallery runs with selective presets and custom organize them.
    • The other nice thing about using current favorites is that you can mix and match different preset operation types into a single gallery show run. So you could have a folder of paint presets and image processing effect presets and end up with interesting random shows that intermix painting with canvas effect processing.
      • Excellent the new possibilities of the gallery show.
But I tried Random IP OP, normal and sketch mass edge mode for example, and the stream-images are not renamed with the IP OP used.....
        Thanks...
        • We'd have to add some additional choices in the new image stream name option in gallery show preferences to support the additional naming options you want. I can look into that for a future build.
  • No problem executing your suggestion, but now have this issue:

The contents of 2 of 14 folders are not showing up in the PASeq browser. They are:

    Pasq:Various:Paintswbacktexture
    Pasq:Various: Watercolor3

    Contents of others are visible.

I had previously copied them into the Favorites folder to do a gallery run. When the run finished and I wanted to go back and use one of the textures, the folder name popped up in the preset browser as others did, but none of the patches were there. The browser was blank.

This did not happen with other presets that I treated the same way, i.e. when I copied them to the Favorites and did gallery runs in the Paint Synthesizer and later went back and used some of them.

How do I get them to show in the browser?

    • Are these paint preset categories? If so, then if you dropped them into the Preset : PASeq folder they would not show up as PASeq presets, since the contain paint synthesizer presets.

Favorites allow you to mix and match preset types. but that's not true for the factory preset folder hierarchy in the preset browser. if you are looking at paseq factory presets it will only display paseq presets and not any other preset types dropped into what is positioned as a paseq category folder.
      • Yes, that was the problem. They'd been sitting in the wrong folder. Thanks!
  • Another related issue:

When I edit a tip, then update it, the new info does not show the next time I access it. No other change is being made to the preset, just want to add the info and keep the same image. Added tip info only shows temporarily, but then disappears when I select another preset and then go back to the one to which the info was added.

Updating also changes the icon to the image on canvas. Don't necessarily want to do that, just add some tip info, update the icon and hope that the image doesn't change but that the added tip info will register and be there the next time I access the same preset.

Saving it as a new preset would only give me a duplicate (which I don't need or want) but would it have the added tip info?
    • Ok, here's the issue with this. Currently, editing the tip text is like editing any other parameter associated with a preset. The changes are not actually written out to disk and the file modified unless you explicitly do that. The way to overwrite the current preset with any changes you have made to it is to option click the current preset icon. This will not change the preset icon.

I haven't seen the icon change in any testing here. If you feel that is the case for you i'd need some more detailed information on how to reproduce the problem here.
