i am trying to do some image analysis and extract features as paths and then redraw over time using time indexed stroke. the paths i get from the image a too many and my goal is to get a single stroke (repeating "connect closest/combine if close" does not combine all). so i export the paths to svg, load into illustrator and do my path editing. then i'd like to be able to reimport the edited paths and re-render with studio artist but the only option i found is "Open SVG as new Canvas" which just renders the path and i cannot edit or access.

alternatively i'd like to know how to combine all selected paths into a single path, even if the resulting topology is weird and discontinuous (so that the points can be indexed over time later)

  • thanks for any tips
