Mosaic For Source With White Backgrounds

Hi Guys,

I'm new to SA5 and still on the trial version for now but i've been trying to follow the training video "How to colorize your images for Photo Mosaics", i follow all the steps, bring in my photo, change to paint synthesizer classic, change General Examples to Mosaic For Source With White Backgrounds, select Basic Image Folder Tiling, right click in Presets and select New Image Folder Brush and select my folder of images, i go to Editor and change Pen Mode to Paint Fill Setup, I make sure Fill Form says Paint Brush Load, I change type to Image Process, Source to Source+Brush, Invert Source is Off, Algorithm is None, Algorithm 2 is Paint Color Mean Shift, then i change Paint Brush Load to Paint Fill Setup, Fill Form change Paint Brush Load to Paint Color, Fill Form Mod change from None to Add Brush Load, Fill to Canvas, Fill Option to Blend, Fill Override None, then change Paint Fill Setup to Paint Color Source, Color Mode to RGB Match Color Pallet.

When i run this I still get images put in the white background, where there should be none, could anyone explain where i'm going wrong, i've tried numerous times now.

Thanks in advance

kind regards

Darren

  • If you look in the path Start control panel for the original preset you are using, the paint drop out in white is because of the Lum Range settings that are turned on at the bottom of that control panel.

So with the settings shown above, any path start points that have a luminance value of 254 or 255 are inhibited.

Depending on what is going on in your source image in the background areas, you might need to adjust this. You can try reducing the Lum Max a little bit.

  • Many thanks, I’ll take a look and see whether this works.

  • Dropping the Lum Max value did the trick, many thanks
