Please Help about NFT

Friends, if anyone here knows how to use this CryptoART case, please advise

1-Where to start?

2-What tools and capabilities do we need in this direction? Should we be familiar with crypto topics?
3-What is the best site to sell works similar to what is done in this forum?
4-What e-wallet should we have that we can use/Where can we get that?

Maybe we can just sit and live with SA and not worry about living expenses at all.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

  • Sam, I just heard about the concept  of cryptoart. Sounds like an interesting idea. I came across this website that maybe you've already have seen but it looks like a good place to start.

    https://cryptoart.com/

    • Yes, I have seen this, but my main language is not English and I may not understand the necessary concepts well and deeply, I think here if you (and other friends who are both artists and understand better) can go deeper into it and guide people like me. Let me be less afraid of entering this field.

  • Am i missing something, or is this really just about a QR code that links to bitcoin some how?  Like talking to a server? So if i tattoo a QR code on a dog, then my dog would be a crypto-dog.

    • It seems like a very strange thing, maybe it really changes the buying and selling of digital products, see this:
      https://coinnewsextra.com/twitter-ceo-jack-dorsey-tries-to-sell-his...

      • It does seem strange but how it is explained on the web site is kinda of like owning a original artist signed print. I'm not really sure if this whole idea will really become anything, but it may be something to give a try if you want to invest some time and money. I never really thought cryptocurrency would takeoff, but of course like everyone I wish  I had bought Bitcoin when it first started.

    • I like that idea of the crypto-dog. Don't forget the cat. Ha,ha...

  • This is what I have learned so far though I have still to try an NFT due to the price of the fees.

There are some artists making big money. But it is harder if you are not a superstar or well known.

There are a few sites like nifty and super rare where a lot of money is being made. Bu they are quite exclusive and there is a whole screening process.

Then there are sites like opensea where its pretty much sign up and your in. But that also makes these sites a free for all full of animated gifs of cats and coins and unless you can point somebody to your work there its very hard to get noticed.

Another thing to understand is 'minting' and 'gas fees'. NFT's are stored on a 'blockchain' which is where Bitcoins are stored. The blockchain is like an indisputable ledger of who owes what. Which is why when you purchase something like a bitcoin you have proof it 100% belongs to you.

And so to idea behind minting a piece of digital art is that you can confer the ownership of your work to a buyer. It doesn't prevent copy and paste / screenshots. It simply makes somebody the owner of the asset.

You can think about going to the Lourve to see the Mona Lisa, then going to the coffee shop around the corner and have a latte with a print of the Mona Lisa on the cup. This does not mean you now have the Mona Lisa in your hand, its just a copy.

But I digress. In order to put your digital art onto the blockchain network it uses computational power. And this is what is referred to as 'gas fees' Depending on the time of day (How busy the network is) this will cost at the moment somewhere between $75-$150 dollars just to 'mint' your work to make it available to sell. So there is also that upfront cost.

This is because the blockchain most of these sites use is based on a coin/token called Etherium and this network is used for many other things besides art. And so the network has become very congested and the gas fees very expensive. I am looking at a site called viv3 at the moment which use a different coin to Etherium but still can't work out how much it will cost as they didn't approve my status to sell yet. But only applied just before the weekend.

Anyway hope that helps and hasn't confused people even more :D

Studio Artist is in Italy!

I was crawling the streets of Matera, Italy today and may have discovered where SA is hiding!  (see attached photo). Not meaning to make light of this great, sad mystery. But I just couldn't resist as I try to make sense of what's happening. Losing my connection to SA, Synthetik and John has been a great sadness... and if real, ends a monumental era in my creative life. love,~Victor
