Scripting IOPs ( or Paseq or MSG ) sequences

Hey all,

I have a reference image I want to run a large number of IOPs against and output using names based on the IOP.

My reasons for doing this is because I find it quite tedious trying to figure out, from looking at the icons, what the actual effect of the IOP is.

History sequence does not create an editable file, ( so I cant build one ising a text editor),  and does not record file save commands. Is there a way to script or sequence the IOPs so that they can run and save the output automagically?

  • You could record a PASeq of all of the IP Op effects. Then open an image stream, and set the stream write flag to Enable Write on Op End. The output of each action step will be an image in the image stream folder. But they are frame numbered, as opposed to numbered by the names of the action steps.

Gallery Show has more specific naming options for stream output. So, you could make a favorites folder of individual presets for each effect you are interested in. Then use gallery show to run the current favorites folder in sequential order as the technique, and set the Image Stream Name Option (gallery show preference) to Add Preset Name. So this is probably the way to do what you want.

  • Woohoo!!

John, this is probably the single biggest step I have taken in my knowledge of SA. I ran all the PASeqs on a single image and output each step of the PASeq as a separate file. I have a boatload of images but I can see exactly what each step of each PASeq has done.
