Ran into a spot of trouble trying to apply surface textures to an image in v.4. Two sets of textures do not show up as a list in the preset area and have to be imported individually and when applied they all render the same. In 3.5 they were fine. They are paperandcanvastextures and surfacetextures. I believe they are properly located, see image. The other texture presets in the list are fine, only these 2 are troublesome. How to fix?

    Dee, i have played with these 'linden textures' from within MSG as they are in the MSG presets collection and they work fine from there...any help?

    thanks, mark, didn't think to look there as they were in the TexSynth folder pictured, but i see them now and will use them from the MSG folder.

    The preset browser assumes that anything in the factory preset hierarchy is the appropriate type of preset. For example, if you are looking at Texture Synthesizer presets and a MSG preset got dropped into the TexSynth folder in one of the category folders in there, the MSG presets will not show up in the browser list of texture synthesizer presets.

    Preset file drag and drop on the application icon will always open up the preset. And favorites folders allow for mix and match of different preset types.

      Sorted that one out by putting it into the MSG folder, but now I have the same situation with "papersandcanvastextures"--where does it belong? or is it best to just drag and drop on the app icon as you suggest?

        I don't seem to have that particular preset so i can't comment directly on it. You could drag and drop to see what it is and then move it to the appropriate place if it's in the wrong place.

        "Paperandcanvastextures" are paint presets so drop them in the presets folder or make a special subfolder and put that in the paint presets folder. Is anybody making a copy of all the material in the Tutorials Forum

Since the Forum is going away in June, has anyone started to make a copy of all the stuff in the Tutorials forum?I've made copies of some of the tutorial material on the main site, but haven't looked at the Tutorial Forum yet.I'm going to continue copying as much as I can for my own personal use anyway, but if anyone else is doing it, or has already started doing it, please let me know.Maybe we can co-ordinate our efforts. ps can't ..... believe John, would let this happen without so much as a…
