What version of Studio Artist do you own?
How do you use Studio Artist?

I love several facets of Studio Artist: more often than not I am happily surprised by the outcome of a SA session--to get something better than I could have set out to create is simply magical; SA allows digital art to go way beyond simulations (and limitations) of traditional old-fashioned media; and as a result less environmental impact since all those oils, canvases, and brushes didn't have to be shipped over from China.

a creative buzz from this forum

So far I'm really excited to be hanging out with other Studio Artist users and seeing some of the amazing creations enabled by this fabulous application. I used to check the other SA forum once a week or so but hopefully I'll have the time to check in here daily.

This forum definitely is more conducive to sharing the results of our creative explorations. Hopefully I'll have something to post myself shortly.

Some of the videos people have posted have blown me away. Now I'm… Continue

thanks for your reply. i am hearing alpha channel used in regards to video often and i'm not sure what the connection is. i have photoshop elements but for some reason i'm intimidated by the layers thing although it would be great for my collage work. i guess i did something similar to layers by using multiple source images. i like the picture of the colorful head on your page. do you know why alpha channels are associated with video?

Does Studio Artist work better with mp4 material or ProRes?

I know rendering a mp4 from Studio Artist can be an intensive process, but I was wondering if there's an advantage in using a format like ProRes over a codec like mp4 or h.264 as a source file loaded into Studio Artist?I've traditionally rendered original media out to tif image sequences or ProRes movies (especially if I need to work in Final Cut Pro at some point - though I've done this less frequently with the advent of FCP X) See More
