About Craig

I am an illustrator and animator living in San Diego. I work with all kinds of applications... Always looking for drawing and painting software that is quick and effective and so digitally clean.
I am very fond of the mess of traditional media as well and hope to combine the un-messiness of digital tools with the messy results of traditional art tools to communicate, illustrate and share.

Here are some experiments with Studio Artist.
Studio artist is an odd mix of refined digital tools and thousands of ways to mess with those tools. The combination is both fun and frustrating and really challenges me to focus on the communication - because the medium has a life of its own!

"The Wacom Artpen supported barrel rotation, and Studio Artist has some modulation options in the Paint Synthesizer for 180 or 360 degree barrel rotation that work if you have an Artpen. We tried to get them to make that standard for all Intuos pens…"

Paint Synth presets challenge(of sorts)

I have a little challenge I would like to propose.I am looking for a kind of effect I get with a specific kind or pencil: Koh-I-Noor Magic FX Pencils. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sV510d64ikThese pencils have in the lead a variety of colors - sometimes in the same family - sometimes complementary or in cases opposing colors. Some reasons why I like these pencils and why I would like to find a way to get some of their effects into…See More

A couple of fun Xmas Paint Synth presets

Just a couple Paint Synth presets for sharing:cd_wet_scribblelinercd_wet_scribbleliner_WCline01Wet, self collapsing (bigger sizes) presets that have a nice texture.Good for drawing raggedy lines at smaller sizes and good for drawing out nicely textured fills at larger sizes. These were used for the image here:merry-christmas-2016See More

Craig deeley's Blog

Some other places I am posting SA created art

http://greenlightcd.blogspot.com/
This blog is a nice receptacle for happy light material... I have been posting here with contributions to http://www.illustrationfriday.com/
and will be adding other efforts as well.

http://redlightcd.blogspot.com/
This blog is where I am channeling material that is more adult oriented... The experiments posted here are often SA created art - but also several other nice drawing applications are represented.

alpha composite option query

Hi,I'm working with alpha layers and was wondering if the alpha / alpha1 composite options are the best way forward if I want to paint a few brush strokes in a layer?..It seems that using 'replace' composite leaves a sort of haloing around the brush stroke when all the layers are viewed, alpha composite seems to remove this problem, or is it my imagination?thanksSee More
